Investigation of the Relationship Between Health Outcomes and the Quality of Life of Individuals Receiving Services in Fitness Centers

Authors

Abstract

In this study, it is aimed to examine the differences in the relationship between the health outcomes and quality of life of individuals receiving services from fitness centers in terms of various variables. A descriptive survey model was used to determine the health outcomes and quality of life of individuals receiving services in fitness centers. It is a relational survey model research in order to determine whether there are differences in terms of individuals' age, gender, education level, weekly free time duration, frequency of difficulty in evaluating their free time, and welfare level, based on their demographic information. In the collection of research data, the demographic information created by the researcher and the demonstration of the psychometric properties of the Turkish version of EUROHIS (WHOQOL-8.Tr) in the Turkish society were used. Method: The EUROHIS (European Health Impact Scale) is an 8-item index quality of life scale created by selecting specific items from the WHOQOL scale, and the 'Perceived Health Outcomes of Recreation Scale' (PHORS) developed by Gomez, Hill, Zhu, and Freidt (2016) and adapted to Turkish by Yerlisu Lapa et al. (2020) were used. A total of 570 individuals, including 174 women (30.5%) and 396 men (69.5%), who were members of sports centers in Aydın province in 2020, participated in the study. According to the results obtained from the findings of the study, it was concluded that the variables of age, gender, marital status, education level, type of work, weekly free time duration, evaluation of free time, welfare level, membership in sports centers, and benefiting from sports centers showed statistically significant differences.
